Symptoms in women

Pain during intercourse
Pain or irritation when urinating
If a woman has gonorrhea or chlamydia and has a fever and lower abdominal pain, she may have an inflammatory disease of the pelvis.
Symptoms in men
a man itching his crotch
Pus starts to fall from the penis or anus
Painful swelling in the testicles
Pain or irritation during urination
In a man, the first symptoms appear 2 to 5 days (or up to 3 weeks or more) after sexual contact with an infected person. Symptoms may not appear in a woman for weeks or months. But even if the person has no symptoms, the disease can spread from him to someone else within a few days of the infection starting.
Treatment
Treatment works well if started early. Even if you start to feel better, make sure you take all the medicine. Treat the person's partner with the same medication.
It is best to treat both gonorrhea and chlamydia unless the test confirms that the person has either. Chlamydia can also be treated with a combination of two medications for gonorrhea. If only chlamydia is found in the test but gonorrhea is not found, only one drug is needed. Combination Medications for the Treatment of Gonorrhea and Chlamydia The chapter lists various combinations and treatments depending on the medications available.
Since gonorrhea is becoming increasingly antiseptic, it is best to seek local advice on effective, readily available, and affordable medicines in your area. The rash and pain do not go away after 2 or 3 days of starting treatment but it may mean that gonorrhea has become drug resistant and a different medication needs to be used.
